Tell me a bit about yourself

I am a public health specialist trained in medical anthropology with significant global health research and public health experience gained from the public, academic and voluntary sectors. Prior to joining LGC in 2017, I led public health programmes at the NHS and Inner London local government public health departments.

What does your job entail?

My job entails providing strategic leadership for integrating patient and public involvement and engagement (PPIE) into NIHR’s early phase translational/experimental and applied health research funding schemes; supporting capacity development, knowledge sharing and technical expertise for PPIE, as well as championing the adoption of novel approaches for PPIE in health research.

Another aspect of my role involves establishing, maintaining and managing effective external relationships and networks with key stakeholders to support and promote PPIE activities. I also support the NIHR’s global health research community engagement and involvement portfolio and act as the impact champion for PPIE.

What do you most like about LGC?

I like LGC’s supportive and collaborative culture for staff, which encourages everyone to push beyond boundaries and achieve meaningful outcomes for both the individual and the organisation. The flexible working and extra support for staff during the pandemic was well received.
